Mokoliʻi Island — Kayak to Chinaman’s Hat
Mokoliʻi — Oahu’s Most Photographed Island
Mokoliʻi (meaning "little lizard" in Hawaiian) is the iconic cone-shaped island 500 yards off Kualoa Regional Park — the shortest and easiest kayak trip on Oahu.
How It Works — Pick Up & Go
1. Check in at our Kailua shop (134B Hamakua Dr). We'll help load your vehicle with our foam pads or rigid racks — fits any 4-door car.
2. Drive yourself to the launch point. You're a private boater now — the adventure is yours. Kualoa Beach Park is about a 35-minute drive from our shop.
3. Return the gear by closing time. That's it. No delivery, no guides — just you and the water.

The Legend
Hawaiian legend says the goddess Hiʻiaka (sister of Pele) slew a great moʻo (dragon). She threw its tail into the ocean, where it became Mokoliʻi. The nickname "Chinaman’s Hat" comes from its resemblance to a Chinese peasant’s conical straw hat.
