Hidden Hawaiian Paradise: Explore Kawela Bay on Oahu
Kawela Bay is located on the North Shore of Oahu, about an hour drive from Waikiki. The North Shore is known for having a more laid-back vibe and less crowded beaches and Kawela Bay is no exception. This incredible beach is protected from big waves making it perfect for a beach day full of swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding, and hanging out on the beach.
Arriving at Kawela Bay
Stop by our shop on your way to Kawela Bay and our adventure guides will help you load up with everything you need for an unforgettable beach day. We offer kayak and paddleboard rentals which include everything you need to transport them on top of your vehicle with ease. You can also rent a variety of beach gear including beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, boogie boards, and more! After loading up the gear, make the scenic drive down to the North Shore and park on the street outside Kawela Bay. Once you reach the shore you can set up your gear and get ready to soak in the sunshine at one of Oahu’s most scenic beaches.
Kayaking and Paddleboarding
Kawela Bay’s calm conditions are perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding. This is a great activity for beginners and families because you won’t have to battle the waves like you would at other beaches. We offer single, tandem, or three person kayak rentals to best fit the needs of you and your group. The bay is also great for swimming and relaxing on the beach with a cooler full of drinks and snacks while you take in the beautiful ocean views.
What to do After
Here are some of our recommendations for things to do after your adventure at Kawela Bay:
- Grab a Bite: Located just down the road are some of the best food spots on the island. We recommend the Kahuku Food trucks which offer a variety of foods including shrimp, burgers, mexican food, shave ice, and more! Another spot you won’t want to miss is Ted’s Bakery, famously known for their Chocolate Haupia Pie!
