We’ve included stops at local eateries so that you can experience the local island flavors for yourself as we cruise around town. Kicking Off the Adventure

You’ll begin the adventure at our storefront in Kailua. When you arrive, our adventure guides will get you checked in and fitted with e-bikes and helmets. We’ll show you how to operate the e-bikes and make sure you are comfortable riding them before we begin. Once everyone is ready, we will head out to our first stop! The tour begins across the street from our storefront at the Hamakua Marsh, a tranquil hidden gem in Kailua. The marsh is a wildlife sanctuary where you can spot native endangered birds. Keep an eye out for the four endemic waterbird species: ‘Alae ‘Ula, Ae’o, ‘Alae Ke’o Ke’o, and Koloa Maoli. The marsh is also home to Mallard ducks, Cardinals, Mynah Birds, Bulbuls, Sparrows, and Doves among the lush greenery.

After enjoying the beauty of the Hamakua Marsh, we will head to one of the best views Kailua has to offer: the Lanikai Monument lookout. From this incredible vantage point, you’ll see panoramic views of the crystal clear waters of Lanikai beach with the Mokolua islands in the distance. After snapping some pictures, we will continue to cruise along the coastline and through town to our next stop: Kailua’s local chocolate factory!

A true hidden gem of Kailua, the Manoa Chocolate Factory is known for its rich and flavorful chocolate made from cocoa beans farmed right here in the Hawaiian islands. Here, you’ll be treated to a complementary chocolate tasting, allowing you to sample a variety of their homemade chocolates. It’s a chocolate lover’s dream come true! But the indulgence doesn’t stop there! Next, we will walk over to Please Come Again, a local ice cream shop serving up some of the best treats on the island. Please Come Again partners with local farms and artisans on the islands and makes all of their ice cream flavors in their shop. Featuring local flavors like Kona Snow, Lilikoi Chamoy, and Manoa Mac Nut, you’ll be talking about their ice cream long after you leave their shop!

After finishing our sweet treats, we will hop back on our e-bikes and head to the Kailua marsh bike trail. As you roll through the lush greenery, keep an eye out for native wildlife. The winding trail leads us to one of Kailua’s most sacred sites: the Ulupo Heiau. The Ulupo Heiau is an ancient Hawaiian temple made of stones. It measures an impressive 140 feet by 180 feet and in some places it reaches 30 feet high. The uses of the Ulupo Heiau varied throughout history but initially began as an agricultural Heiau where ceremonies were held to ensure a bountiful crop would be grown in Kawai Nui. The Heiau is a fascinating historical site and your adventure guide will tell you more about the rich history and legends of the Heiau when you make your stop there. You’ll be able to walk around the Heiau and take photos, but in order to respect this sacred site, we’ll ask that you stay off the stones and look from the perimeter.

Concluding the Adventure

No adventure is complete in Kailua without some local cuisine. After the Heiau, we will head to Kono’s–a beloved local eatery known for it’s mouth-watering kalua pork dishes. From kalua pork burritos to hearty plates, Kono’s offers an authentic taste of Hawaii that’s sure to leave you satisfied. After finishing up at Kono’s it’ll be time to conclude the adventure and head back to the storefront.
